Guaranteed admission to RWU Law through 3+3 and 4+3 pathways
Earn your bachelor’s degree plus a Juris Doctor (JD) with a clear, guaranteed path. Pre-Law Undergraduate Programs at RWU
Accelerated Juris Doctor (JD)/Bachelor’s 3+3
This accelerated program allows eligible students to complete their bachelor's and Juris Doctor J.D. degrees in six years instead of seven. You’ll get a jump start on your Pre-Law path by integrating law courses into your undergraduate studies and completing undergraduate requirements in your first year of law school. Eligibility
Students may select and pursue any undergraduate major; however, note that in rare cases, certain majors have requirements that may impact the accelerated timeline, such as engineering and architecture.
All majors in SJS, SHAE, and GSB are conducive to the accelerated pathway. Check with dean and/or advisor for majors in SSNS, SECCM, and the Cummings School of Architecture.
Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA with 90 credits and the LSAT completed by end of junior year to be eligible. Students must present no serious character and/or fitness issues.
Those interested in pursuing the 3+3 Program must contact the Dean of Admissions at the School of Law and the Dean of the School of Justice Studies, no later than the end of the first semester junior year.
Coursework
The coursework during first the first year of Law School will count toward completing undergraduate degree requirements and JD requirements.
3+3 students are required to take two legal studies prerequisites within the first three undergraduate years.
Process
Notify advisor of intent to participate in program as early as possible, and no later than the end of first year, to inform course selection.
Students enrolled in the Program must apply to the School of Law by the end of their junior year. It is recommended that they sit for the LSAT during the October administration but no later than the December LSAT test administration of that year. Students enrolled in the Program who satisfy all undergraduate requirements, who achieve an LSAT score that is 150 or above, and who present no serious character and fitness issues will be guaranteed admission to the ¹ú²úÍøºì¸£ÀûÒ»Çø School of Law.
Students following the 3+3 program will be considered candidates for the bachelor's degree following the completion of the first year in law; i.e., the fourth year of the program. Such candidates for the bachelor's must file an application for degree with the University Registrar before registering for their fourth-year courses (first year Law School courses).
Pre-Law 4+3 Undergraduate Pathway
Students participating in the Pre-Law 4+3 pathway have the assurance of guaranteed admission to the ¹ú²úÍøºì¸£ÀûÒ»Çø School of Law as a full-time undergraduate student at RWU. The 4+3 program accepts RWU students across all majors, who meet the eligibility criteria below for law school admission.
3+3 vs 4+3: Choosing Your Pre-Law Path
- Choose 4+3 if you want the full four-year campus experience and a guaranteed, well-paced path to RWU Law.
- Choose 3+3 if you’re academically accelerated and ready to start law school in your fourth undergraduate year to finish both degrees in six years.
Eligibility Requirements
Students may select and pursue any undergraduate major. That means that you can major in any discipline at RWU and still be eligible for guaranteed admission to our nationally recognized law school. You must meet one of the following criteria for eligibility:
- Any currently enrolled, full-time undergraduate student at RWU. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.30 and have received an LSAT score of 147 or higher.
- Any RWU alum (or those with pending graduation status) who have earned a B.A./B.S. within the past two years and have received an LSAT score of 147 or higher.
- Any student who has completed at least 50 percent of their credits at ¹ú²úÍøºì¸£ÀûÒ»Çø or has earned an associate degree from an accredited community college. 
- Individuals who have received an LSAT score of 147 or higher and applied to the RWU School of Law by February 1.
